Cursive Handwriting

The Nine Pound Hammer

I just finished The Nine Pound Hammer by John Claude Bemis. This is one of those books that you wish the world would go away so you had time to finish it. It is the story of Ray Cobb who is an orphan that meets a group of medicine show performers. Bemis draws on American mythology (i.e. John Henry) to shape this story. The descriptions in this book are fabulous and will be great for writing mini-lessons.
